Lambropoulos specializes in interventional cardiology with research focusing on valvular heart disease, aortic biomechanics, and hypertension management. His work bridges experimental vascular research with clinical cardiology, particularly examining the effects of pharmacological interventions on arterial structure. Current research emphasizes multicenter European registry analyses through the EURObservational Research Programme, with recent publications investigating patent foramen ovale closure techniques and fibroblast growth factor 21 in cardio-metabolic disorders.
His publication record demonstrates consistent output in high-impact cardiology journals including Circulation, Metabolism, and European Heart Journal. Recent work shows increasing focus on systematic reviews/meta-analyses of interventional cardiology techniques alongside original clinical research on valvular pathologies and biomechanical properties of vascular tissues.
Scientific recognition includes:
- Bronze Award in Annual Healthcare Business Awards (2019)
- Multiple 'Best Presentation' awards at Greek cardiology congresses (2005-2008)
- Distinguished recognition at AHA Scientific Sessions (2006)
