Knut Øystein Høvik is a Professor in English Literature, Culture, and Didactics at the Faculty of Teacher Education and Pedagogy, Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences. He holds a Master’s degree in English from the University of Bergen (2000). His research focuses on English subject didactics, particularly the interplay between cultural studies and the English curriculum, alongside historical developments in the subject and curriculum studies. He actively contributes to internationalization projects and serves on the board of the Norwegian Studies Centre at the University of York and chairs the Norwegian Society for English Studies. Additionally, he is an area expert on British and Irish history for the Store norske leksikon.
In 2023, he was honored as an Excellent Teaching Practitioner at his institution. His recent publications explore interdisciplinary education for sustainability, teacher professional development through mobility programs, and environmental themes in music lyrics. He teaches across diverse programs, including primary and secondary teacher training, Master’s in Cultural and Language Didactics, and in-service teacher education.
