Klaus von Heusinger is a Full Professor of German Linguistics at the University of Cologne since 2012. Previously, he held a Full Professor position at the University of Stuttgart (2003–2012) and served as Director of the Research Center for Linguistics and Cognition (2009–2012). He has held prestigious fellowships, including the Senior Fellow position at Zukunftskolleg (University of Konstanz, 2010) and the Opus Magnum Research Professorship (2008–2010). His research focuses on semantics, pragmatics, and experimental approaches to linguistic phenomena.
Education: PhD (Dr. Phil) in Linguistics from the University of Konstanz (1992), MA in Linguistics and Philosophy (1990), and studies in Linguistics, Philosophy, Oriental Languages, and Artificial Intelligence at the Universities of Konstanz and Edinburgh (1984–1990).
Research interests include reference, specificity, definiteness, differential object marking, and experimental semantics/pragmatics. He has led interdisciplinary projects, such as the DFG-funded 'Dynamic Structuring in Language and Communication' (2013). Awards include the Heisenberg Grant (2000) and DAAD support for studies in Edinburgh.
He serves as Managing Editor for journals like Zeitschrift für Sprachwissenschaft and Linguistische Arbeiten, and is a committee member of the European Society for Philosophy and Psychology (since 2012). He reviews for major funding bodies and journals, including the NSF and ERC.
