Klara Kofen is an artist, dramaturg, writer, and researcher affiliated with University College London as an IAS/SCCI Quirk Creative Fellow (April–July 2025). She directs Waste Paper Opera, a collective exploring intersections of opera, technology, and research.
Her work interrogates how technological interfaces shape affective and temporal relations, blending historical and speculative narratives. Current research investigates multimodal sentiment analysis and Baroque gesture systems in AI, focusing on contradictions in affective signal alignment.
She has exhibited at institutions like Centrale Fies (2025), Guggenheim Museum (2024), and Matt’s Gallery (2023). Her writing appears in Catastrophe Time! (MIT Press, 2023) and Onomatopee publications.
