Kjetil Fretheim is Professor of Ethics and Diaconal Studies and Pro-Rector at MF Norwegian School of Theology, Religion and Society. His research spans diakonia studies, public theology, religion/development intersections, intercultural communication, and empirical church research.
Fretheim's work examines how religious institutions address societal challenges including:
- Migration ethics and populism
- Climate justice in the Anthropocene
- Development discourse and practice
- Democratic participation in value debates
His current projects explore peacebuilding through faith-based higher education in Myanmar and normative dimensions of intercultural communication. As pro-rector, he leads institutional development at MF while maintaining active research on church engagement with contemporary ethical issues.
