Kjersti Lohne is a Professor at the Department of Criminology and Sociology of Law, Faculty of Law, University of Oslo. She is an internationally recognized scholar specializing in international criminal justice, with particular expertise in the International Criminal Court (ICC), the war on terror, and Nordic approaches to global criminal justice.

Lohne's scholarly work demonstrates a consistent focus on how criminal justice operates beyond national borders, examining the transnational dimensions of punishment and human rights. Her research combines perspectives from criminology, sociology of law, international law, and political sociology to analyze global justice mechanisms. She has conducted fieldwork at significant international sites including the International Criminal Court in The Hague and the US military tribunal at Guantánamo Bay.
Lohne has received numerous prestigious awards for her research, including the European Society for Criminology Young Criminologist Award in 2019 and His Majesty the King's Gold Medal in 2017 for her doctoral thesis. She has secured significant research funding, notably an 8 million NOK grant from the Research Council of Norway's Young Research Talents scheme for her project "Promoting Justice in a Time of Friction: Scandinavian Penal Exports."
Her academic leadership extends to various roles including membership on the Faculty Board, the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters' Committee for Scientific Advice, and the Human Rights Committee.
