About
Kitty Steenberg is a Postdoc researcher at the Department of Health Technology, Technical University of Denmark (DTU), affiliated with the UltraSound and Biomechanics and MEMS Applied Sensors groups within the Center for Fast Ultrasound Imaging. Her work focuses on advancing ultrasound imaging through novel transducer designs and techniques.
She completed her Ph.D. in 2024 at DTU Health Technology with a dissertation on micromachined 2D transducers for 3-D super-resolution ultrasound imaging of erythrocytes. The doctoral project ran from March 2020 to January 2024 under the supervision of Prof. Erik Vilain Thomsen and Prof. Jørgen Arendt Jensen.
Steenberg's research centers on ultrasound transducer technology, particularly capacitive micromachined ultrasonic transducers (CMUTs), row-column arrays, and super-resolution imaging. She integrates MEMS, biomechanics, and sensor engineering to develop innovative medical imaging systems, contributing to UN Sustainable Development Goals in health.
Her recent publications (2021-2023) demonstrate a strong focus on improving ultrasound image quality and speed through synthetic aperture techniques, velocity estimation algorithms, and novel transducer materials. Key themes include real-time 3D imaging and the application of microfabrication to ultrasound devices.
Dr. Steenberg has not received listed scientific awards. She has not advised students but led her own PhD project which explored titanium, hydrogel, and microfabrication for ultrasound transducers.
She actively collaborates within DTU's Center for Fast Ultrasound Imaging, working alongside multidisciplinary teams to translate engineering advances into clinical ultrasound solutions.
