Kitty Janssen is a Lecturer in STEM Education and Assessment at the Department of Education, Swinburne University of Technology. She holds additional roles as Assessment Lead, LANTITE Support Coordinator, and Academic Integrity Advisor within the School of Social Sciences, Media, Film and Education. Previously, she supported literacy and numeracy development at Monash University (2017–2022) and co-founded the LANTITE Community of Practice, which collaborates across 20+ universities to improve teacher education assessments.
Her research focuses on generative AI's impact on education, emphasizing teacher perspectives and ethical integration through strengths-based frameworks. Earlier work explored technology's role in adolescent health, particularly sleep patterns, using salutogenic approaches and Rasch analysis for instrument validation. With over 20 years of teaching experience, she has instructed STEM, literacy, and numeracy across primary, secondary, and tertiary levels.
Dr. Janssen’s methodological expertise includes mixed-methods research and educational technology design. She is available to supervise doctoral candidates in areas like VR/ChatGPT-based teaching resources for Chinese English education, as evidenced by her 2024 HDR project.
