Kiran Voderhobli is a Senior Lecturer and Course Director for Computer Science at Leeds Beckett University, affiliated with the School of Built Environment, Engineering and Computing. He leads both undergraduate and postgraduate Computer Science programs, overseeing curriculum development and student experience.
His research is centered on sustainable computing, particularly energy efficiency in cloud data centers and network systems. He investigates how virtualized resources and network traffic characteristics influence power consumption, aiming to optimize data center operations for reduced carbon footprint. This work aligns with UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, especially SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 4 (Quality Education in Green IT). His teaching covers Computer Communications, Network Management, Cloud Computing, and Smart Systems across B.Sc. and M.Eng. programs.
Kiran's research interests include sustainable ICT, green networking, and the human aspects of computing technologies. He leads the Green Networking and Cloud Computing (GENial) research initiative, which explores methodologies to reduce the energy footprint of modern computing infrastructures.
Kiran has over a decade of academic experience, having taught since 2011. Prior to academia, he worked in the software industry developing secure communication systems, bringing practical industry insight into his teaching and research.
