Kimberly Renk is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Central Florida and a Licensed Psychologist (PY6771). She directs the Understanding Children and Families Lab and founded the Young Children and Families Research Clinic. Specializing in Infant Mental Health, her research examines:
- Parent-child relationships in high-risk contexts (substance abuse, trauma)
- Intergenerational transmission of attachment patterns
- Evidence-based interventions for traumatized young children
She implements trauma-informed therapies including:
- Circle of Security-Parenting
- Child-Parent Psychotherapy
Community partnerships include collaborations with Florida Association of Infant Mental Health, Nemours Children's Hospital, and child welfare systems. Dr. Renk earned her PhD from University of South Florida and completed specialized Infant Mental Health fellowship training at LSU Health Sciences Center.
