Kimberly Luu

Kimberly Luu, MD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco. Her clinical and research focus centers on pediatric otolaryngology, with expertise in congenital anomalies of the head and neck, pediatric hearing loss, obstructive sleep apnea, and pediatric sinus disease. She is passionate about advancing medical education through innovative assessment tools and integrating technology into clinical practice. Dr. Luu holds a medical degree from the University of Western Ontario, completed residency at the University of British Columbia, and a fellowship in Pediatric Otolaryngology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

Her research explores topics such as machine learning applications in pediatric diagnostics, competency-based medical education, and multidisciplinary surgical care models. Recent work includes developing AI-driven tools for detecting foreign body aspirations and evaluating novel imaging techniques for pediatric conditions. She also investigates practical improvements in surgical outcomes, such as optimizing tracheostomy care and minimizing intervention in pediatric cholesteatoma cases.
