Kimberly Clausing holds the Eric M. Zolt Chair in Tax Law and Policy at UCLA School of Law, appointed in January 2021. She previously served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Tax Analysis at the U.S. Treasury Department and was the Thormund A. Miller and Walter Mintz Professor of Economics at Reed College.
Her research examines the intersection of government policy and corporate behavior in the global economy, specializing in multinational firm taxation. She is the author of Open: The Progressive Case for Free Trade, Immigration, and Global Capital (Harvard University Press, 2019), which argues for economically inclusive globalization policies.
Professor Clausing is a nonresident senior fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics, Council on Foreign Relations member, and NBER research associate. She has testified before multiple Congressional committees and received research grants from NSF, Smith Richardson Foundation, and Washington Center for Equitable Growth. She earned her B.A. from Carleton College (1991) and Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University (1996).
