Kimberly Brown

Kimberly Brown, M.D., FACS, serves as Professor and inaugural Associate Chair of Education in the Department of Surgery and Perioperative Care at Dell Medical School, The University of Texas at Austin. Since joining in January 2017, she oversees all educational programs including undergraduate, graduate, and continuing medical education while directing the core surgery clerkship for Dell Medical School.

Her educational credentials include:

• Surgical Oncology Fellowship at Fox Chase Cancer Center
• Minimally Invasive Hepatobiliary-Pancreatic Surgery Fellowship at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center

As a fellowship-trained surgical oncologist, Dr. Brown specializes in liver, pancreatic, gastrointestinal tumors, and melanoma. Her research integrates clinical practice with educational innovation, focusing on frameworks for safe trainee autonomy and personalized risk assessment in oncology decision-making. She actively advances Dell Med's mission pillars of value-based care, leadership development, and interdisciplinary collaboration through curriculum design.
