Kimberly A. Schandel

Kimberly A. Schandel is the Dean of the School of Graduate and Professional Studies and an Associate Professor of Biology and Chemistry at Assumption College. She holds a B.S. in Biochemistry from Pennsylvania State University (1983) and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Duke University (1990), with her thesis titled “Characterization of the Role of Trac in F Pilus Assembly (F Pilus, Filamentous Phage Infection).”

Her teaching focuses on Genetics, Microbiology, and Biochemistry courses. Her research explores molecular mechanisms in microbial systems, including yeast pheromone signaling pathways, bacterial conjugation processes, and gene-protein interactions in plasmids. Notable work includes studies on F pilus assembly, TraC protein localization, and G protein interactions in yeast.

Publications emphasize molecular and cellular biology across microbial systems, with contributions to understanding F pilus assembly, pheromone receptor dynamics, and genetic sequencing of plasmid components. She has maintained an active research program since the early 1990s.
