Kim Roberts is a Professor in the Department of Visual & Media Arts at Grand Valley State University (GVSU). Her work focuses on video art, new media installations, and exploring themes of social institutions and cultural privilege. She is the creator and executive producer of the talk show Feel Like You Belong, which highlights immigrant, expatriate, and refugee stories. Roberts has produced films like The Darkroom (2009) and Horizontal Accidents (2010) through GVSU's Summer Film Projects, and advised lip dub projects such as The 50th Anniversary GVSU LipDub (2010) and Clark Retirement Community Lipdub (2011).
She holds an MFA in Video from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a BFA in Sculpture/Video Installation from Kendall College of Art & Design. Her courses include Media Production, New Media, and Film & Video Art, culminating in a Capstone and Senior Projects sequence.
Roberts received recognition as a Television Academy Foundation Faculty Fellow in 2014. Her research and creative work emphasize interdisciplinary collaboration and media’s role in societal narratives.
