Kim Ebensgaard Jensen

Kim Ebensgaard Jensen is an Associate Professor in English Linguistics at the University of Copenhagen, Department of English, Germanic and Romance Studies. Previously, he held academic positions at Aalborg University (2011-2016) and Copenhagen Business School (2007-2008). His work spans Cognitive Linguistics, Corpus Linguistics, and Construction Grammar, with a focus on variation across registers, cultural cognition, and digital communication.

Kim’s research interests include Cognitive Sociolinguistics and Cultural Linguistics, analyzing how language reflects social and cultural cognition. He investigates semantic prosody in political discourse, discursive manipulation in online communities, and constructional variation in digital spaces. His teaching covers grammar, corpus linguistics, and digital humanities, employing blended learning and PBL methods.

His 15 most recent publications highlight interdisciplinary trends, blending Construction Grammar with corpus analysis to explore topics like honor conceptualizations in World Englishes, semantic prosody in hate speech, and discourse in mental health communities. Notable works include studies on the Black Lives Matter protests in media, Lara Croft’s linguistic portrayal, and Anglicisms in Danish.

Kim actively engages in academic activities, including lectures on metaphors, digital humanities, and constructions. He has contributed to peer review and research networks, with media appearances discussing linguistics. His supervision includes MA theses on topics like grime music’s impact on English and semantic conflict in constructions.
