Kim Cullen

Dr. Kim Cullen is an Assistant Professor at the School of Human Kinetics and Recreation, Memorial University of Newfoundland, cross-appointed to the Faculty of Medicine, Community Health and Humanities. They hold a BSc in Kinesiology from the University of Waterloo, MSc in Rehabilitation Science from McMaster University, and a PhD in Biophysics from the University of Guelph.

Dr. Cullen’s research focuses on workplace hazards, musculoskeletal/mental health risks, and evidence-based policy evaluation. Their work includes ergonomic studies in healthcare (e.g., colonoscopy injury risks), wearable device validation, and systemic reviews of workplace policies in aquaculture, mental health, and aging workforces. They also investigate canine agility injuries and gender-specific occupational osteoarthritis risks.

Key contributions include developing implementation guides for musculoskeletal disorder prevention, analyzing injury compensation data in fisheries, and exploring longitudinal impacts of workplace safety measures during the pandemic. Dr. Cullen’s interdisciplinary approach bridges occupational safety, public health, and policy analysis.
