About
Kim Bak Jensen is a Professor and Deputy Director at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Stem Cell Medicine (reNEW), University of Copenhagen. He leads the Jensen Lab focusing on stem cell biology and regenerative medicine. Previously held positions include Group Leader at the Biotech Research & Innovation Centre (2013-2021) and University of Cambridge (2010-2014).
- PhD in Molecular Biology, University of Aarhus (Denmark)
- MSc in Biotechnology and Molecular Biology, University of Aarhus (Denmark)
His research explores molecular mechanisms governing stem cell fate specification, integration of extracellular signals with gene regulatory networks, and cellular plasticity in epithelial tissues. Key areas include:
- Stem cells in tissue homeostasis
- Tissue development and stem cell specification
- Adult stem cells in disease contexts
- Regenerative therapy development
Recent publications focus on organoid modeling, epithelial regeneration, and inflammatory disease mechanisms. Collaborative networks span Denmark, UK, and international institutions.
Additional roles include:
- Member of Scientific Advisory Board for Trogenix
- Trustee of Stem Cell Education and Research Collaboration
