Kieran Dowd

Dr. Kieran Dowd is a Lecturer in the Department of Sport and Health Science at the University of Limerick. He holds a PhD in 'Objectively Measured Sedentary Behaviour, Physical Activity and Health in Adolescent Females' (2013) and a B.Sc. in Physical Education with Concurrent Mathematics Teaching (2007), both from University of Limerick.

His research focuses on physical activity, sedentary behavior, and cardiometabolic health across life stages. Key areas include workplace health interventions, adolescent health monitoring, and youth sports coaching practices. Recent work addresses sedentary behavior reduction strategies in hybrid workplaces and the impact of 24-hour activity patterns on biomarkers in adolescents.

His articles (2025) explore digital interventions for home-office workers, compositional analysis of adolescent time use, and Gaelic games coaching methodologies. His work contributes to UN SDGs related to quality education and good health.

Dr. Dowd has participated in collaborative research networks and presented at international forums like the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Ireland Doctoral Networks Webinar (2025).
