Kien Lim

Kien Lim is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). His work focuses on mathematics education, emphasizing the development of mathematical habits of mind, proportional and algebraic reasoning, and the integration of mindfulness and kindness into pedagogy.

Dr. Lim explores methods to foster intellectual curiosity and create nurturing learning environments for students. He is currently investigating the use of Generative AI to enhance mathematical understanding among preservice teachers, collaborating with the Teacher Education Department as a liaison. His research also highlights the importance of educators' inner transformation through self-study to cultivate compassion in teaching practices.
