Kien Chu

Kien Chu is a part-time Assistant Professor at Parsons School of Design, a constituent college of The New School, since 2005. He holds dual roles as a designer, maker, and educator with nearly 30 years of experience in American fashion, spanning design, illustration, merchandising, and 3D technical development for brands like Mr. Beene by Geoffrey Beene, Vivienne Tam, Lance Karesh, and Hanky Panky.

His teaching focuses on interdisciplinary programs such as B.F.A., S.I.S., and Academy Fashion Design, emphasizing courses like Concept Development, Fashion Drawing, and Creative Technical Studio. He also leads Cloth of Stillness, a lifestyle brand exploring how textiles and garments can support mindful practices (stillness of body, heart, and mind) within daily life.
