Kevin Shaughnessy

Kevin Shaughnessy is a Senior Lab Instructor in Biology at Mount Saint Vincent University with research expertise spanning animal physiology, environmental toxicology, invertebrate ecology, and cardiovascular disease. He holds a BSc (Honours) from the University of Guelph and an MSc from the University of New Brunswick.

His interdisciplinary research includes investigations into endocrine disruption in aquatic ecosystems from industrial pollutants, cardioprotective effects of blueberry phytochemicals in hypertensive rat models, and ecotoxicology of pulp mill effluents. Laboratory instruction covers Introductory Biology, Microbiology, Animal Physiology, Genetics, and Animal Diversity courses.

Professional experience includes research positions with government agencies including the Ministry of Natural Resources and the National Water Research Institute. His laboratory teaching integrates practical experimentation with theoretical concepts across diverse biological subdisciplines.
