Kevin O'Keeffe
Senior Lecturer · High Harmonic Generation
Max Planck Institute for Sustainable MaterialsAbout
Dr. Kevin O'Keeffe is a Senior Lecturer in Physics at the College of Science, Swansea University. He received his doctorate from the Technical University of Vienna, Austria, and conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Oxford. His career includes a position as Stipendiary Lecturer at St. Hilda’s College, Oxford, before joining Swansea University in 2014.
His research focuses on high-resolution spatial and temporal imaging using compact coherent x-ray sources derived from high harmonic generation (HHG). Key areas include femtosecond laser technology, adaptive optics, and x-ray microscopy. His work addresses quantum path characterization and spatial control of laser-driven harmonic sources for applications in ultrafast dynamics observation and nanostructure imaging.
Recent publications highlight advancements in HHG brightness optimization, spatial beam shaping for XUV holography, and interferometric techniques to resolve quantum pathways. His projects have been funded by grants such as "Adaptive spatial control of soft x-rays for coherent microscopy applications" (2016–2018, £88,850). While no explicit awards are listed, his teaching contributions include modules like Modern Laser Systems and Advanced Research in Physics.
