Kevin Mullen serves as an Assistant Professor in the Division of Continuing Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and directs Adult Education for the UW Odyssey Project, focusing on expanding higher education access for low-income adult students from marginalized communities.
His research interests include:
- public humanities
- multi-generational learning
- literacy studies
Mullen investigates how writing cultivates self-efficacy, voice, and community among underserved learners. He teaches English 100 (Introduction to College Writing) for Odyssey alumni and incarcerated students through the Odyssey Beyond Bars program, while overseeing the Odyssey Family Learning Center where students receive homework support with their children.
His work operates within the Liberal Arts & Applied Studies framework of the Odyssey Project, emphasizing practical educational equity initiatives rather than theoretical research.
