Kevin Hiscock

Kevin Hiscock is a Professor of Environmental Sciences at the University of East Anglia (UEA), affiliated with the School of Environmental Sciences. He serves as a Member of the Water Security Research Centre, Geosciences, and ClimateUEA. His research focuses on hydrogeology, groundwater chemistry, and the application of stable isotopes and dissolved gases to study groundwater systems. He has held a PhD from the University of Birmingham, extending his work at UEA to include climate change impacts on groundwater and sustainable resource management.

Key research interests include groundwater pollution, nitrate dynamics, and the role of aquifers in greenhouse gas emissions. He leads projects funded by organizations like Horizon Europe and Anglian Water, addressing issues like nutrient mitigation in wetlands and managed aquifer recharge. He has authored over 125 publications, including influential works on groundwater modeling and nitrous oxide emissions.

Current initiatives include assessing water quality under climate change and developing solutions for saline coastal areas. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to clean water and climate action. He supervises PhD studentships in topics such as agricultural pollution mitigation and water resource management.
