About
Dr. Kevin Edgar is a Research Fellow at the Wellcome Wolfson Institute for Experimental Medicine, Queen's University Belfast. His research focuses on molecular mechanisms of cardiovascular diseases including diabetic cardiomyopathy, radiation-induced cardiotoxicity, and ischemic heart disease. Using preclinical models and clinical samples, his work examines endothelial dysfunction, oxidative stress pathways, and therapeutic interventions like statins and sacubitril/valsartan.
Research explores NOX4 signaling in vascular repair, proteomic changes post-myocardial infarction, and cardiac remodeling after irradiation. Recent publications demonstrate innovative approaches to attenuate diabetic cardiomyopathy through immunomodulation and characterize dose-dependent radiation effects on heart function.
Collaborates extensively within cardiovascular networks to translate basic science findings into clinical applications for heart failure and diabetes complications.
