Kevin Busuttil is a Lecturer in Sport, Health and Fitness at Solent University, leading the MSc Clinical Exercise Science pathway. He holds an MSc (Hons) in Sport Science from Brunel University (2007) and a BA in Health and Fitness Management from Solent University (2006). Since 2013, he has been active in higher education, becoming a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He founded Solent's MSc Clinical Exercise Science program in 2020 and co-developed the Solent Exercise Referral scheme with Southampton's Clinical Commissioning Group, linking master’s students with clinically-referred patients.
His research focuses on exercise interventions for chronic conditions, particularly Type II Diabetes Mellitus and cardiovascular health. Current PhD work investigates eccentric endurance exercise's effects on heart rate variability and cardiovascular function. He is an accredited Phase IV Cardiac and Cancer Rehabilitation specialist, emphasizing practical clinical applications.
Collaborations include work with University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust and international researchers on resistance training protocols for diabetic patients. His academic contributions bridge theoretical research and community health initiatives, with a focus on real-world clinical outcomes.
