Kevin B. Anderson is a Distinguished Professor of Sociology at the University of California, Santa Barbara, with courtesy appointments in Feminist Studies and Political Science. He holds a Ph.D. from the City University of New York Graduate Center (1983). His research focuses on social and political theory, history of social thought, and intersections of class, gender, race, and colonialism. Key areas include Marxist-Humanism, revolutions in the Middle East and Africa, and critiques of Western Marxism.
Anderson’s scholarly contributions include seminal works such as Marx at the Margins (2010/2016), Foucault and the Iranian Revolution (2005), and Lenin, Hegel, and Western Marxism (1995).
