Kerry Featherstone

Kerry Featherstone is a Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing and Programme Lead for the MA in Creative Writing and the Writing Industries at Loughborough University. His research focuses on Creative Writing, Contemporary Travel Research, Poetry, and Cultural Studies, with a particular interest in travel writing about Afghanistan and the works of Bruce Chatwin. He has translated poetry and fiction from French to English. Featherstone has extensive experience in public engagement, including workshops in schools and community groups, and served on the board of Apples and Snakes, a leading UK spoken word organization.

His work integrates interdisciplinary approaches, blending literary analysis with cultural and geographical studies. Featherstone’s creative practice includes poetry and songwriting, alongside academic writing. He has conducted research in Bradgate Park, Leicester, exploring connections between landscape, history, and artistic expression through projects like his 'Poet in the Park' residency. His interests span diverse fields such as rural poetry, spatial narratives, and the intersection of travel with identity.
