Keri Cheechoo (she/her) is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Education and Director of Mamawi Together, a community resource network focused on Truth and Reconciliation in Canada. A member of Long Lake #58 First Nation, her work centers ethical relationality, Cree methodologies, and Nisgaa frameworks emphasizing protocol, mindfulness, and reciprocity. As a published poet, she employs poetic inquiry to bridge spiritual writing and educational research, addressing colonial violence’s impacts on Indigenous women and Indigenizing curricula.
Her research interests include Indigenous literatures, Settler-Indigenous Studies, Canadian Cultural Studies, Trauma Studies, and Equity and Social Justice. Mamawi Together facilitates school/community events to advance Indigenous perspectives in education. Dr. Cheechoo advocates for curriculum reforms that integrate missing histories and reconciliation principles.
