Keri Barone

Keri Barone serves as Principal Lecturer and Program Director for the Communication BS program within the School of Communication, College of Liberal Arts at Rochester Institute of Technology. She joined RIT in 2007 as a Visiting Professor and has established herself through teaching, research, and student engagement initiatives.

Her academic credentials include:

• M.A. in Rhetorical Criticism, State University College at Brockport

Research focuses on marginalized groups' experiences with evolving communication technologies and their impact on social perceptions, alongside pedagogical innovations in public speaking education. Her work examines how technological mediation reshapes identity formation and community engagement for underrepresented populations.

As faculty advisor to Lambda Pi Eta (National Communication Honors Society), she initiated the student-run colloquium series, co-organized RIT's Public Speaking Contest, and facilitates guest speaker events and volunteer opportunities to strengthen student-community connections. Her teaching portfolio spans technical communication, health communication, and interpersonal dynamics.
