Kenton Lobe

Kenton Lobe is a Teaching Assistant Professor in International Development and Environmental Studies at Canadian Mennonite University (CMU). His interdisciplinary background includes a Master’s in Natural Resource Management from the University of Manitoba and extensive fieldwork in Kerala, India, where he studied the impacts of global shrimp markets on fishing communities. Lobe’s research integrates food justice, environmental assessment, and participatory development.

His research interests focus on sustainable food systems, community resilience, and ecological peacebuilding. He co-founded CMU’s community garden and the Metanoia Farmers Worker Cooperative, initiatives that bridge academic work with grassroots activism.

Lobe’s publications analyze food sovereignty and environmental governance, with recurring themes of community-led development and policy reform. His recent work explores local food networks in Manitoba and environmental assessment frameworks.

He actively contributes to community initiatives like Germinating Conversations (rural-urban dialogues) and serves on boards for USC Canada and Sharing the Table Manitoba.
