Kenneth R. Hallows is Professor of Medicine and Director of the USC/UKRO Kidney Research Center at the University of Southern California. His research examines metabolic control mechanisms in kidney epithelial cells relevant to hypertension, acute/chronic kidney injury, and polycystic kidney disease. Dr. Hallows holds MD/PhD degrees from University of Rochester and completed training at University of Pennsylvania.
Research employs molecular approaches to investigate ion transport regulation and metabolic adaptations in renal pathologies. Recent publications focus on AMPK signaling pathways, extracellular vesicle therapeutics, and sex-specific disease mechanisms. Major honors include the Lazaro Mandel Young Investigator Award and Carl Gottschalk Research Scholarship.
