About
Kenneth Davis is a Professor of Atmospheric and Climate Science at the Department of Meteorology and Atmospheric Science, part of the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences at Pennsylvania State University. His research focuses on boundary layer meteorology, terrestrial carbon and hydrologic cycles, and lidar remote sensing techniques.
- Education: A.B. in Physics from Princeton University (1987), Ph.D. in Astrophysical, Planetary, and Atmospheric Sciences from University of Colorado (1992)
- Professional Memberships: American Meteorological Society, American Geophysical Union, Chi Epsilon Pi
Davis leads groundbreaking studies on surface-atmosphere interactions through projects like NASA's ACT-America, the NACP Midcontinent Intensive, and the Indianapolis Flux Experiment (INFLUX). His work combines atmospheric measurements with numerical models to understand greenhouse gas dynamics.
Recent publications address urban CO2 monitoring (2017), lidar measurement techniques (2015), and boundary layer constraints in carbon modeling (2013-2017). He received the IEE Person of the Year Award 2024 for his research and leadership in environmental science.
- Key Research Themes:
- Atmospheric boundary layer dynamics
- Terrestrial carbon/water cycle interactions
- Urban greenhouse gas emission quantification
- Lidar remote sensing applications
- Climate change ethics
