Kenneth C Johnson is an Adjunct Professor of Low Brass at the University of Wisconsin Green Bay and Teacher of Low Brass at the Lawrence Community Music School. He also serves as Director of Instrumental and General Music at Notre Dame of De Pere. His roles include Second Trombonist in the Weidner Philharmonic, Principal Trombonist of Sinfonia Gulf Coast, and founder/director of the Green Bay Low Brass Choir.
Johnson holds a Doctor of Music in Trombone Performance from Florida State University (2020), a Master's from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music (2017), and a Bachelor's in Music Education from West Virginia University (2013). His doctoral research explored environmental engagement in concert programming and activism.
His research and performance interests span trombone pedagogy, chamber music collaboration, orchestral performance, and music activism. He has performed with ensembles like the Louisville Orchestra, Fox Valley Symphony, and Vice City Brass, and has recorded for PlayBill, BIVA Broadcasts, and film projects like Concessions.
Johnson has been honored as a finalist in major trombone competitions and participated in the prestigious Alessi Seminar. He actively commissions new works through groups like the Invicta Trio and promotes music education through community initiatives.
