Dr. Kenneth Barr is a Researcher at the Centre for Cultural Policy Research (CCPR) at the University of Glasgow, specializing in cultural industries with a focus on music and television. His current ESRC-funded project examines Public Service Media's evolving role and funding challenges in the digital era. Previously, he contributed to IPO research on music creators' earnings in streaming and AV sectors.
His doctoral work (2016) explored Music Copyright in the Digital Age, funded by the Lord Kelvin/Adam Smith Scholarship. Postdoctoral roles included a 2017-2020 EPSRC project analyzing transnational media influence in UK TV production. He collaborates across disciplines at the Advanced Research Centre (ARC), addressing DCMS inquiries on PSM, music streaming economics, and CMA market studies.
Research interests include digitalization's impact on cultural industries, copyright's role in creative decision-making, and marginalized creators' challenges. He teaches media management and music studies, and serves on SCCA EDI committees and the Copyright Evidence Wiki board.
