Kendra Walther

Kendra Walther is an Associate Professor of Technology Practice and Associate Director for Faculty and Academic Affairs in the Information Technology Program at the University of Southern California. She joined USC in 2014 as a part-time lecturer, transitioned to full-time lecturer in 2015, and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2022.

Her research centers on computer science education with emphasis on programming pedagogy and cognitive learning processes. As an active SIGCSE member, she develops innovative teaching methodologies focused on student comprehension of programming principles. She champions inclusive education through accessibility initiatives, investigating how to make technology fields welcoming for people with disabilities while promoting diversity in computer science education.

Kendra serves as faculty advisor for Teach Access initiatives and co-led the Student Task Force (2019-2021), directing the first virtual Teach Access Study Away program for 80 U.S. students. She founded Teaching CommuniTEA to facilitate educator discussions on teaching practices and co-facilitated the FTLP program in 2021-2022. Her grant work focuses on accessibility curriculum development and inclusive teaching strategies.

She actively contributes to SIGCSE, Teach Access, and Access Computing communities, leading virtual accessibility programs and developing resources for STEM faculty through USC's FTLP initiatives.
