Ken W. Shaw is the KPMG/Joseph A. Silvoso Distinguished Professor of Accountancy at University of Missouri's Trulaske College of Business. He holds a BS from Bradley University, MBA and PhD from University of Wisconsin. A CPA (inactive) with prior experience at KPMG, Shaw teaches Advanced Accounting and Financial Accounting/Corporate Governance.
His research examines financial accounting practices, corporate governance mechanisms, and regulatory impacts on accounting disclosures. Specific interests include: critical accounting estimates, pension accounting harmonization, and CEO compensation structures. He serves as Director of Graduate Studies for the School of Accountancy's PhD program.
Honors include the 2023 Trulaske College Distinguished Research Award and multiple teaching awards: Faculty Member of the Year (2019), O'Brien Teaching Excellence Award (2011), and Most Outstanding Professor (2005-2016). Editorial board service includes Journal of Business Research and Research in Accounting Regulation.
