About
Ken Sauer is an Associate Professor at the University of Notre Dame’s College of Engineering, affiliated with the Department of Electrical Engineering. His work focuses on statistical methods for solving inverse problems, particularly in medical imaging technologies such as emission and transmission tomography, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and X-ray computed tomography (CT). He collaborates with GE Healthcare and Purdue University to advance imaging techniques that reduce radiation exposure in diagnostic applications.
- Ph.D., Princeton University, 1989
- M.S., Electrical Engineering, Purdue University
- B.S., Electrical Engineering, Purdue University
Professor Sauer’s research bridges computational mathematics and biomedical engineering, emphasizing statistical modeling and algorithmic solutions for imaging challenges. His current projects aim to enhance the safety and efficiency of CT diagnostics by minimizing radiation doses while maintaining image fidelity.
He is based at Fitzpatrick Hall of Engineering, Notre Dame, Indiana, and can be reached via email at sauer@nd.edu.
