Ken Cooper

Ken Cooper is an Associate Professor of English at the State University of New York at Geneseo, holding a Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University. He has been affiliated with Geneseo since 1993, contributing to the Department of English and Creative Writing. His research focuses on the intersection of 1970s culture and ecology, with a strong emphasis on digital humanities and bioregional literature.

Cooper teaches courses such as Filming the Seventies, Renewable Futures, and Storied Landscapes: 21st-Century Nature Writing. He collaborates with the Geneseo Milne Library archivist on the Open Valley project, a digital initiative exploring local history and ecology. Additionally, he co-developed an interdepartmental GIS course with Professors Garrity and Hannam.

Cooper actively participates in institutional initiatives like the Geneseo Sustainability Commission and previously co-directed the Geneseo Food Project. His work bridges academic writing with practical applications, emphasizing the role of English majors in community partnerships.
