Ken Carberry is the interim director of the radio program at Curry College, returning to his alma mater after a 40-year career in Boston broadcast radio. He graduated from Curry College in 1980 with a communication degree and has held diverse roles including news reporter, disc jockey, talk show host, production company president, station owner, and voiceover artist. As interim director, he focuses on teaching operational and business aspects of the radio industry, leveraging his industry experience to connect students with professional networks. Carberry co-founded Chart Productions with classmate Jordan Rich '80 and has a familial connection to Curry through his brother Kurt Carberry, a 1987 graduate.
His educational background includes a B.A. in Communication from Curry College. He emphasizes foundational liberal arts skills such as critical thinking and communication as vital for success in radio. Current initiatives include expanding WMLN-FM's news and public affairs programming to enhance student engagement with the medium's evolving landscape.
Carberry advocates for radio's enduring relevance amid digital streaming competition, highlighting its personal connection to listeners. He plans to modernize the radio program by integrating industry trends while preserving traditional broadcast values.
