Kelvin Black

Kelvin Black is an Associate Professor in the Department of English at Hunter College's School of Arts and Sciences, and serves as Director of the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship Program. His academic career focuses on transatlantic literary studies with particular emphasis on the long nineteenth century.

Professor Black's research explores how political debates and historical narratives from 1789 to the First World War shaped Anglo-American political thought, particularly through British Romanticism. His projects include:

• The Atlantic Dilemma: Reform or Revolution Across the Long Nineteenth Century - Analyzes the reform-revolution dialectic in post-French Revolution narratives
• Two Nations under Reform: The Romantic Origins of Public Policy in the UK and the U.S. - Expands on reform thought's influence on democratic institutions
