Kelly Howells

Kelly Howells is a Research Fellow in the Division of Population Health, Health Services Research and Primary Care at the University of Manchester. Her work addresses healthcare access for marginalized populations, diabetes prevention, and health system responses during crises.

Her research examines barriers to cervical screening in underserved groups, integrated care models for homeless individuals during COVID-19, and large-scale evaluations of the NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme. She employs qualitative methods to understand community pharmacy challenges in marginalized settings and develops frameworks for patient engagement in research.

Howells received the University of Manchester Making a Difference Award (2024) for inclusive research impact. Her publications highlight practical strategies for improving equity in preventive services and crisis response systems.
