Kelly Farquharson, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the School of Communication Science and Disorders at Florida State University's College of Communication and Information. She directs the Children's Literacy and Speech Sound (CLaSS) Lab, focusing on improving outcomes for children with speech/language impairments through child-level factor analysis and evidence-based practice implementation in schools. A clinically-trained speech-language pathologist, she holds Board Certification in Child Language (BCS-CL) and is an ASHA Fellow.
Her research integrates two primary domains: (1) identifying child-level and item-level factors affecting speech, language, and literacy outcomes, and (2) optimizing school-based practices through implementation science frameworks examining variables like therapist self-efficacy and treatment intensity. She serves as Editor-in-Chief for Language, Speech, and Hearing Services in Schools and engages public outreach via the 'Phonetics Fridays' series on her lab's Instagram.
Recent publications (2023–2025) demonstrate strong emphasis on therapy efficacy, professional training, dyslexia redefinition, and pandemic-related workforce challenges. Award highlights include ASHA Fellowship and BCS-CL certification.
