Dr Kelly Buckley is a Senior Lecturer in Criminology, Sociology, and Social Policy at Swansea University. She specializes in addressing pressing social issues, particularly violence against women, domestic/sexual violence, and public health interventions. Her work focuses on developing and evaluating multi-agency strategies to prevent harm, with a strong emphasis on health-sector responses. She employs mixed-methods research, prioritizing participatory approaches that center survivors' and young people's voices.
Her research interests include feminist theory, creative methodologies, and child welfare. Notably, she has led projects like the Family Recovery after Domestic Abuse (FReDA) study (NIHR £635k) and evaluated the Health Pathfinder Plan (Safelives £195k). She teaches modules on criminology, gender studies, and research methods.
Her publications analyze topics like domestic violence policy impacts, teenage pregnancy prevention programs, and social capital in Wales. She currently supervises PhD students exploring gender-based violence support systems in Nigeria.
