About
Keith Ross is the Leonard J. Shustek Chair Professor at NYU Tandon School of Engineering and Dean of Engineering and Computer Science at NYU Shanghai. An ACM Fellow and IEEE Fellow, his research spans reinforcement learning, networking, and privacy. He co-authored the widely-used textbook Computer Networking: A Top-Down Approach, translated into 14 languages.
Ross's current work focuses on deep reinforcement learning algorithms and their theoretical foundations. His research develops efficient learning methods for complex decision-making problems, with applications to robotics and autonomous systems. Recent publications analyze neural collapse phenomena and improve sample efficiency in RL.
His awards recognize fundamental contributions to networking and learning algorithms. As co-founder of Wimba (acquired by Blackboard), he developed voice/video applications for online learning.
