Keith McLachlan is a Senior Lecturer and researcher in policing at Edge Hill University, with a focus on decision-making and public order policing. He is currently undertaking a Professional Doctorate, researching police command decision-making in time-critical situations and the police national decision model.
Keith retired from Merseyside Police after thirty years of service, where he held various operational command roles, including leading the response to the 2011 riots and the Liverpool Arena car park fire. He has also led international policing efforts in the British Virgin Islands following a hurricane.
Keith is passionate about developing people and has a strong background in both practical policing and academic research. He is a qualified workplace assessor and has a background in police search and security coordination.
