Keith Kozminski

Keith Kozminski is an Associate Professor of Biology and Cell Biology at the University of Virginia, and Director of Undergraduate Programs. He holds a B.A. and B.S. from SUNY Buffalo (1989), a Ph.D. from Yale University (1995), and completed postdoctoral research at UC Berkeley (1995-2001).

His research focuses on molecular mechanisms regulating polarized cell growth in budding yeast (S. cerevisiae), with emphasis on understanding how cells maintain stable growth axes, link exocytosis to cell cycle progression, and regulate growth via lipid-binding proteins like OSBPs. His work bridges fundamental biology and synthetic engineering applications.

Recent publications address PI4P regulation and lipid-dependent exocytosis mechanisms in yeast, contributing to broader insights into eukaryotic cell biology.
