Keith Jones

Professor Keith Jones serves as Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) at the University of Sussex. Previously, he held leadership roles including Executive Dean of Science at the University of Adelaide and Head of Biological Sciences at the University of Southampton. His research focuses on oocyte maturation mechanisms and fertilization processes, particularly chromosome segregation and meiotic regulation. He has contributed over 60 peer-reviewed articles and serves as Editor-in-Chief of Molecular Human Reproduction.

Keith advocates for gender equity in academia, securing Athena SWAN awards for Southampton and a SAGE award for Adelaide. He chairs Sussex’s Research and Knowledge Exchange Committee and leads the Research with Impact pillar of Sussex 2025 strategy. His honors include an Honorary Professorship from the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
