Keith Churchwell

Keith Churchwell, MD, is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at Yale School of Medicine. He previously served as President of Yale New Haven Hospital (2020–2023) and holds leadership roles in the American Heart Association (AHA), currently serving as President-Elect (2024–present) and former Chair of the National Advocacy Committee. His research focuses on cardiovascular health policy, health equity, and telehealth innovation. He completed his medical degree at Washington University and residency/fellowships at Emory University.

• Education: MD from Washington University School of Medicine (1987), AB in Biology from Harvard University (1983).
• Leadership: AHA President-Elect (2024), former Executive Director of Vanderbilt Heart and Vascular Institute (2009–2014), and active in local boards such as the New Haven Symphony and Columbus House.
